Working Lives

Heritage Open Days 11th – 21st September 2026

Working Lives On and Around the River Hull

“It’s not a job, it’s a way of life”

Our ‘Working Lives’ project is a new online exhibition of everyday working life, depicted through stories and previously unseen, rare and restored photographs through the years, especially created for this year’s Heritage Open Days festival.

‘Working Lives’ follows on from last year’s Open Bridges project, ‘Hull’s River Bridges’.

As part of the festival we will be hosting an in conversation about the Open Bridges project at Wrecking Ball Music and Books on Whitefriargate, in Hull at 3 pm on Monday September 14th. Please see the festival brochure event listings for more details. If you would like to come, it would be great to see you there.
