On Sunday 4th August at about 10.00 a.m. the H320 Arctic Corsair left it’s berth of 20 years in the Old Harbour moving to a temporary berth at Alexandra Dock to be refurbished before re-locating to a dry dock berth at the former lock pit entrance to Queen’s Dock, back in the Old Harbour.
John Dean’s tugs; Lashette, Shovette and the Gillian Knight moved and towed the historic sidewinder down the Hull passed open bridges, Scale Lane, Myton and Millenium in front of crowds of on-lookers and well wishers on a beautiful sunny summer Sunday morning.

Open Bridges made history when for the first time all 13 of the bridges over the River Hull in the UK’s City of Culture 2017 raised, swung or closed simultaneously splitting the city of Hull in two at 20:17 hours on 22nd September 2017. Historic vessels sailed down the River to be met by 21st century tugs.
Open Bridges is an independent not for profit Hull/East Yorkshire based project.
