King George Dock, May 1961 Part 2

This is the second set of images taken one grey day in May in 1961, by an unknown photographer. The cleaning and restoration took me days, but I think it was definitely worth the effort. The second seven show more of the tugs and barges and I’ve cropped some of the images in the second gallery to focus on the barges, and men that may become more recognisable close up.

Taken on Agfacolour L CT18 colour slide film which adverts at the time proclaimed – “a natural, true-to-life quality not obtained in other film” – and taken on a dull day, they retain all the detail with a beautiful grainy sixties quality of one persons record of a snapshot in time. If you have any information about the photographs or photographer, please get in touch.

Photograper, unknown. Restoration, Richard Duffy-Howard

  1. More fabulous images, Rich. You’ve collected, restored and built an amazing archive that deserves a place in the Hull Maritime Museum or somewhere similar.Best regardsSteveSent from my Galaxy

    1. Hi stevehornsea, thanks very much for your comment and kind words. When we came up with the original idea for Open Bridges in 2016, we would never have imagined it would grow like this. We really appreciate everyone who’s got in touch and shared their stories and photographs with us, so we can share them all here. Best wishes, Rich & Lou.
