Open Bridges: The Day the City Split in Two
We commisioned Humber Film Creative Community and Octovision Media to make the Open Bridges film. It was filmed by 16 film makers who captured each bridge movement and from the MV Syntan as she sailed from Beverley to Hull on the night of the event when for the first time all 13 bridges over the River Hull raised, swung and closed simultaneously celebrating the river, its bridges and real Hull culture. Historic vessels; MV Syntan, the Humber Keel Comrade and the schooner HMS Pickle sailed down the river, to be met by 21st century tugs, SMS Towage Superman, and Svitzer’s Bristol and Josephine.
The filmmakers were Neal Coulman, Julian Woodford, Michael Borrego, Phil Codd, Ed Cotton, Alex Davies, Chris Fenton (Octovision Media), Jeff Hobbs, Darren Edwards, Paul Leeson-Taylor, Conn O’Brien, James Powell, David Priestman, Avalon Ramos, Adam Storch, Brendan Storch, Kash Wabu and Mark Ward. It was edited by Phil Codd, to the sound of John Stead’s new musique concrète work, ‘Moments in Time’.
The film was selected for four international film festivals. To watch the film settle down in a comfy chair, turn the lights down & the volume up and soak it in, it’s an immersive experience.
