A Ghostly View

Open Bridges Hull – excerpts of Moments in Time, the world premiere of the live musique concrete diffusion for Open Bridges by John Stead. Autumn equinox 2017

A ghostly view of the world premiere of the new acousmatic composition for Open Bridges. Electro Acoustic Ensemble director, John diffused the live music featuring found sounds of Hull bridges in octophonic sound to a full house at Hull’s Stage@TheDock, where the River Hull meets the Humber Estuary, in the shadow of the iconic buildings, The Deep, The Tidal Barrier, Millennium Bridge and the C4Di building. For the first time in the city’s history all 13 of Hull’s bridges raised, swung or closed simultaneously, splitting the city in two at 20:17 hours on the autumnal equinox 2017 during Hull City of Culture’s Freedom Season. Thanks to Simon Coope for his phone video clip, Graeme Oxby for the cover photo, and Phil Codd for the Open Bridges cog motif outro.

Stop Press! Due to popular demand the Open Bridges exhibition at Scale Lane Bridge is extended to Saturdays during February (3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th) 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. Free entry. The exhibition covers all elements of Open Bridges and Horst P Horst Patterns From Nature inspired art photography exhibition ‘Engines and Insects’. All welcome, come and have a look round and say hello, we’ll be there.
